This is a 1990 photograph showing shophouses on Bernard Street, towards Farquhar Street. Bernard Street was named after Francis James Bernard, a son-in-law of Farquhar, who was made assistant to the Resident and Master Attendant until Captain Flint arrived. Title devised by Library staff.
