This 1984 photograph depicts the façade of a typical traditional shophouse located at the corner of Fowlie Road. The shophouse no. 408 Joo Chiat Road, is one of a row of terrace houses. The two-storey shophouse features windows with wooden louvred shutters on the upper floor. The façade is recessed at the ground level, forming a’ five foot way”. The ground floor also spots a pair of swing doors and windows on either side. The building is supported by columns. Title devised by Library staff.
