Participants wearing Peranakan Nyonya costumes during the Living Traditions seminar [3]

Information About

This photograph shows three lady participants modelling the Peranakan Nyonya costumes during the seminar, "Living Traditions - Celebrating the Peranakan Lifestyle" held at the RELC auditorium on 20 November 1999. The ladies on the right and left wear kebaya and batik sarong while the lady in the middle wears a baju panjang (or long tunic) and batik sarong. She also has a ceremonial shoulder piece (or sangkut bahu) over her left shoulder. All three are wearing the traditional Peranakan beaded shoes. The seminar was held in conjunction with the 12th Baba Convention that took place in Singapore between 19 and 21 November 1999. Title devised by Library staff. Description by Library staff.
