Head-and-shoulders portrait of Mr. Ong Pang Boon, Minister for Labour from 1971 to 1980; succeeding Mr. S. Rajaratnam, who served from 1968. He was Deputy Mayor of Singapore (1957-1959); Assistant Secretary-General of People's Action Party Central Executive Committee (1961-1979); Minister for Home Affairs (1959-1963), Education (1963-1970), Environment (1981-1985) and Communications (May-Sep 1983); Minister without Portfolio (1970-1971); and PAP Member of Parliament for Telok Ayer (1959-1988). He was conferred Order of Temasek (First Class) in 1990. His wife, Madam Chan Choy Siong, was PAP Member of Legislative Assembly and later Member of Parliament for Delta from 1959 to 1970.
