This is a head-and-shoulder portrait of Lieutenant-General Winston Choo Wee Leong, Chief of the General Staff (1974-1992) and later Chief of Defence Force, Singapore Armed Forces (1990-1992). He was Second Lieutenant in the Singapore Infantry Regiment (1961); Brigade Commander of 2nd Singapore Infantry Brigade or 2 SIB (Oct 1972-Feb 1973); Chairman of Chartered Industries of Singapore (Jul 1992-1994) and Singapore Red Cross (1996-2008); Deputy Chairman of Central Provident Fund Board (Jul 1992-1994); High Commissioner to Australia and Ambassador to Fiji (1994-1997); roving High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea and South Africa (2001-2005); and roving Ambassador to Israel (2005-to date). He was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Gold) in 1978, the Public Administration Medal (Military) (Gold) in 1981, Meritorius Service Medal (Military) in 1990 and the Public Service Star in 2009.
