This 1993 photograph shows a row of shops at Joo Chiat Place. The single-storey shops are located at the north corner of Still Road junction and houses restaurants. A signboard in front of one of the shops reads Eng Seng Restaurant. Next to it is a Eating House with a sign in Chinese characters which reads "Young Cheng Can Shi". Joo Chiat Place is named after Chew Joo Chiat, a well-known Chinese landowner and coconut plantation owner. Title devised by library staff.
