Information About

This photograph shows a street view of the new 14-storey Robinson Centre on Robinson Road. It is built on the site of the old Shaw Chambers, which was once the headquarters of the Shaw Organisation. The new building consists of a podium and a tower block. In 1982, the Robinson Centre was already under construction after the site was bought by the developer, Gulf Consolidated for Services and Industries, from the Far East Organisation. This was the second time the site traded hands as Shaw first sold it to Far East in 1979. By the time the second sale was concluded, building plans for the site were already approved, development charges paid for and piling work completed by Far East. The building was designed by Timothy Seow and Partners. Date of creation estimated. Title by Library staff. Description by Library staff.
