Front view of the entrance to Siong Lim Temple or Shuang Lin Temple at Kim Keat Road, off Balestier Road. The Buddhist temple was built between 1898 and 1912 on the land of a Chinese merchant, Mr. Low Kim Pong (刘金榜, 1837-1909) with the help of Mr. Yeo Poon Seng, a saw mill owner. In present day, the temple is known as Lian Shan Shuang Lin Monastery (莲山双林寺) and located at Jalan Toa Payoh. On 17 October 1980, the Preservation of Monuments Board officially gazettes the temple as a national monument. Title devised by Library staff.
