This is a head-and-shoulder portrait of Mr. Bernard Edward Nicholas, a discipline master at St. Patrick's School before being appointed the first principal of Tanjong Rhu Boys' School (1950-1956). His father, Mr. Wilfred Dunstan Nicholas (b.1875-d.1956), was Assistant Civil Engineer at Singapore Harbour Board (19-1950). Bernard's brother, Dr. Wilfred Aloysius Nicholas (b.1898-d.1960), was a lecturer at Department of Social Medicine and Public Health in University of Malaya (1950-1956). Bernard's sister, Mrs. Guy Alfred Machado nee Violet Alexandria Nicholas (b.1904-d.1981), was Principal of Tanjong Rhu Girls' School (1951). Title devised by Library staff.
