Information About

This is an aerial view of the Broadcasting House (top left) and its surrounding area at Caldecott Hill, off Thomson Road. A new complex was built behind the Television Centre to replace the Old Radio Singapore building in 1975. Radio Singapura and Television Singapura were the first local radio and television services established in 1937 and 1963 respectively. Later, both became part of the Radio and Television of Singapore (RTS) in 1969. RTS later became part of the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (SBS) in 1980, which in turn became part of the Radio Corporation of Singapore (RCS) and Television Corporation of Singapore (TCS) under the privatisation exercise in 1994, and subsequently MediaCorp Radio and MediaCorp TV respectively in 2001. Title devised by Library staff.
