This photograph shows a side view of a 21-storey HDB housing-cum-shopping complex at 4 Sago Lane. Built to replace a pre-war three-storey dilapidated shophouse, it forms part of the Chinatown urban renewal programme to resettle residents of pre-war shophouses. A podium on the the first three floors hosts shop lots. To the right of the block and partially visible in the background is the Pearl Bank Apartments, once the tallest residential building in Singapore. Description by Library staff.
