The photograph of a seated figure of the historical Sakyamuni Buddha, made of white marble weighing 10 tonnes and standing at 11 feet, in Singapore Buddhist Temple (later Maha Sasanaramsi Burmese Buddhist Temple), at 17, Kinta Road, off Serangoon Road. The writing behind the Buddha's head is in Burmese, and records the name of the ship of the Burmese Navy that brought the statue to Singapore. Founded in 1878, the temple was relocated to Tai Gin Road in May 1988. The construction of the new temple was completed in March 1992. (In publication: Kintar Road). Title devised by Library staff.
