Portrait of a Peranakan or Straits Chinese family. Two ladies wore sarong kebayas, consisting of a short blouse edged with embroidered motif over a sarong or ankle-length skirt, were flanked by two men dressed in baju tutup (literally means closed coat), a suit with high-collared jacket; typical working attire for Peranakan men in early 20th century. A young Peranakan girl was standing between the two ladies and wearing a long dress. Title devised by Library staff.
