This is a half-length portrait of Professor Lui Pao Chuen, Chief Defence Scientist of Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) from 1986 to 2008. During his tenure in MINDEF, Professor Lui served as Director of Special Project Office (1975-1982); Acting Director of Joint Operations and Plans Directorate (1984); and Senior Director of Defence Material Organisation (1986). He is on the Board of Directors, and Board member of various Government-linked companies and agencies, including Director of Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (since 2004); Chairman of Sembcorp Design and Construction Private Limited (since 2006); member of Economic Development Board (since 2008); and Executive Committee of Public Utilities Board (since 2007). Professor Lui was conferred the Public Administration Silver Medal in 1979, Public Administration Gold Medal in 1992 and Long Service Award in 1997. He has been Chief Scientific Advisor of Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2004 and Advisor of National Research Foundation since 2006. He is also Consultant to MINDEF. Title devised by Library staff.
