This is a head-and-shoulder portrait of Brigadier-General (NS) Lee Hsien Loong, the third Prime Minister of Singapore since August 2004. He was selected as a President's Scholar in 1970 and the first Singapore Armed Forces Overseas Scholar. He served as Chief of the General Staff (1982-1984); Director of Joint Operations and Plans Directorate (1983-1984); Political Secretary for Defence (Sep 1984); Minister of State for Defence (1984-Dec 1986) and Trade and Industry (1984-1986); Acting Minister (Apr-Dec 1986) and later Minister for Trade and Industry (Jan 1987-1992); Deputy Prime Minister (1990-2004); Second Minister for Defence (Jan 1987-1990); Minister for Finance (2001-2007); Chairman of Monetary Authority of Singapore (1998-2004); People's Action Party (PAP) Member of Parliament for Teck Ghee (1984-1991) and Ang Mo Kio GRC (1991-to date); and Member (1986-1989), Second Assistant Secretary-General (1989-1992), First Assistant Secretary-General (1992-2004) and later Secretary-General of PAP Central Executive Committee (2004-to date). He is also the eldest son of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, the first Prime Minister of Singapore. Title devised by Library staff.
