This picture shows Peranakan (Straits Chinese) bride and groom in traditional wedding costumes, flanked by a young flower girl and an even younger pageboy. The bride (centre right) wore an elaborate Qing dynasty (1644-1911) style garments comprised of a long silk robe with wide long sleeves, a broad circular collar, and a pleated skirt. She favoured a crown of gold pins, fastened into a chignon and a cloth headband encrusted with gold pins. The groom (centre left) wore a Ming dynasty style long sleeves wedding jacket, a skull cap and held a fan with his left hand. Title devised by Library staff.
