Information About

This is a Peranakan (Straits Chinese) family portrait taken in front of their residence. The women wore traditional baju panjang [literally means long dress] that consists of a loose, calf-length tunic, with sleeves tapering at the wrists that was worn over a sarong. The men wore baju Lok Chuan, a traditional southern Chinese costume consisting of a long sleeved jacket with knotted buttons and loose silk trousers. Four young children were seated on a floor carpet. Title devised by Library staff.
