This is a head-and-shoulder portrait of Dr. Robert Loh Choo Kiat, tenth Master of the Academy of Medicine in Singapore from 1975 to 1978. He was Senior Ophthalmologist (eye specialist) at the Singapore General Hospital (1959-1969); Honorary Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Ministry of Health (1969-1995); President of the Singapore Medical Association (1964-1965); founding President of the Ophthalmological Society of Singapore (1963-1976); President of the YMCA of Singapore (1970-1992), the Rotary Club of Singapore (1976-1977) and the National Council of Social Service (1992-2002); and Governor of District 3310 of the Rotary Club (1991-1992). He was made a Justice of Peace in 1989, and was conferred the Public Service Star, Public Service Star (Bar), and Meritorious Service Medal in 1991, 1996, and 2002 respectively in recognition for his tremendous contributions and services to the public.
