Mr. David Marshall is in conversation with Mr. Edmund William Barker, commonly known as Eddie Barker. Mr. Marshall was a leading criminal lawyer, and the first elected Chief Minister of Singapore from 6 April 1955 to 7 June 1956. Mr. Barker was the first President of the Singapore National Olympic Council (1970-1990); Honorary Member of the Singapore Recreation Club; President of the Singapore Hockey Association (1965-1970) and the South-East Asia Peninsular Games Federation Council (September 1973); Chairman of the Bukit Turf Club (1989-1994) and the Singapore Stock Exchange (1989-1993); Speaker of the Legislative Assembly (1963-1964); Member of Parliament for Tanglin (1963-1988); and Minister for Law (1964-1988), National Development (1965-1975), Home Affairs (1972), the Environment (1975-1979), Science and Technology (1977-1981), and Labour (1983).
