This is a head-and-shoulder portrait of Mr. Aw Cheng Chye (胡清才), President of Singapore Chinese Football Association from 1954 to 1955. He was Chairman of Haw Par Brothers Limited; Managing Director of Eng Aun Tong; Executive Director of Sin Poh (Star News) Amalgamated Limited; Chairman of Chung Khiaw Bank Limited (1966-1968); Vice-President of Singapore Olympic Sports Council, St. John Ambulance Association (Chinese District), Malayan Chinese Football Association, and Nanyang Khek Community Guild (1960-1966); President of Singapore Amateur Boxing Association (1953-1957) and Singapore Boys' Scouts' Association (North West District); Patron of Jalan Besar Citizens’ Consultative Committee (1968); and Deputy Chairman of Public Life Assurance Company Limited (1969). He was also nephew of Mr. Aw Boon Haw (胡文虎), the man behind Haw Par Villa and Tiger Balm Medicated Ointment; and the first President of Nanyang Khek Community Guild (1929-1955).
