This is an elevated view of the five-storey Pearl's Hill Police Headquarters at 99, Eu Tong Sen Street. It was built on the site of the original Tan Tock Seng Hospital, as police barracks for the Sikh Contingent of Straits Settlements Police (disbanded in 1946). The barracks was declared open by Sir Shenton Thomas, on 19 December 1934. Known as Lower Barracks building, it was occupied by Ministry of Interior and Defence (1965-1970), Ministry of Home Affairs (Aug 1970-Aug 1977), Central Police Station (Apr 1978-1994), Volunteer Special Constabulary and Criminal Investigation Department (Sep 1993-2000). In 2001, CID was relocated to Police Cantonment Complex at 391, New Bridge Road. Title devised by Library staff.
