This is a 1982 photograph showing Geylang Road, from Paya Lebar Road (south side). It shows a view of a street lined with two-storey shophouses. Geylang is believed to be a corruption of the term "kilang", Malay for factory, from the coconut and lemongrass processing factories of the area. Title devised by Library staff.
