This is a photograph of Mr. Rex Anthony Shelley seating on a sofa. He was appointed as Member of the Public Service Commission in November 1976 and served until November 2007. He was a trained engineer and joined Hume Industries in 1965 and was promoted to Manager (Planning) on February 1973. He was Member (1973) and later Deputy Chairman of the Singapore Science Centre Board (1976-1977); Member of the Singapore Institute of Standards and Industrial Research (1973-1976); and Deputy Chairman of the Education Service Commission (1991-1998). Author of eight books, he was awarded the Public Service Star and Public Service Star (Bar) in 1978 and 1989 respectively. Title devised by Library staff.
