This is a picture of Mr. Chen Hung, seated in his office. He was appointed as Principal of Ngee Ann Polytechnic on 3 January 1983. He was a student at Catholic High School and Anglo-Chinese School; trainee engineer with Public Works Department (1960); Senior Executive Engineer (1974); Higher Executive Public Health Engineer and later Director of Environmental Engineering Division in the Ministry of the Environment (1979); Member of National Productivity Council and Professional Engineers Board; President of Alumni Association of University of Malaya and Institution of Engineers Singapore (1984-1986); Chairman of River Valley Citizens' Consultative Committee (Jul 1984-1986); and Vice-Chairman of River Valley Community Centre Management Committee (1982-1984). He was conferred the Public Administration Medal by the Government of Singapore in 1977. He graduated with an engineering degree from University of Malaya in Singapore in 1959. In 1966, he went to the United Kingdom under a World Health Organisation Fellowship, and was awarded the Diploma of Imperial College and Master of Science in Public Health Engineering from the Imperial College and University of London. In 1970, he won another WHO fellowship and went to the United States to study waste disposal. Title devised by Library staff.
