This picture depicts Mr. Lee Khoon Choy, Member of Parliament for Braddell Heights Constituency and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, planting a tree in Sing Hua School at Lim Tua Tow Road. The school was established in 1930 and became a government-aided school in 1957. A new school building was built and completed in 1975. The school was relocated to Hougang Avenue 1 and renamed "Xinghua Primary School" on 17 December 1984. The new school was declared open by Mr. Philip Tan Tee Yong, Member of Parliament for Paya Lebar, on 29 August 1987. On 15 December 2000, it was shifted temporarily to 30, Parry Avenue before returning to 45, Hougang Avenue 1. In January 2003, the school and Charlton Primary School at Aroozoo Avenue merged. In January 2007, it merged with Parry Primary School to form the new Xinghua Primary School (醒华小学). Title devised by Library staff.
