This is the facade of Wesley Methodist Church at 5, Fort Canning Road. The Church was founded in 1885 as the English Church. The old church was located at Coleman Street. The cornerstone of the new church building was laid by Sir John Anderson, Governor of the Straits Settlements, on 12 December 1907. The church was dedicated on 4 Feb 1909 with Bishop William Fitzjames Oldham as the first Pastor. It became known as "Wesley Methodist Church" in 1911. Title devised by Library staff.
