This is a head-and-shoulder portrait of Madam Esther Yiu Kam Yu, Head of Department of Educational Testing, Guidance and Counselling at Institute of Education in 1989. She was Lady Superintendent of a residential home for delinquent girls and destitute children in Singapore (1969-1974); Head of Training and Research Department at Ministry of Social Affairs (1974-1975); Head of Division of Psychological Studies at National Institute of Education (1990-2003); Adjunct Professor at School of Human Development and SocialServices at SIM University; Adjunct Associate Professor at Division of Psychology in School of Humanities and Social Sciences in Nanyang Technological University (2005-2007); Member of Students Care Service Management Committee (1976-2006); and Member of Panel of Advisors to Juvenile Court (1992), Board of Visitors (Women and Girls) and Films Appeal Committee (2007-2010);. She joined the academic staff of Institute of Education in 1975. In 1984, she was awarded the Certificate of Appreciation by Minister for Social Affairs in recognition of valuable service to others. She was also awarded the Efficiency Medal in 1986 and the (PBM) in 1993. She was appointed Justice of the Peace in 1998. Title devised by LIbrary staff.
