This picture depicts a vintage car parked outside a two-storey house at Middle Road, that was home to St. Anne's School. The school was set up by Father Jose Pedro Santa Ana e Cunha (Catholic Portuguese Mission), Assistant to Vicar of St. Joseph's Church at Victoria Street, in August 1879. A new school building was completed in 1885 at the corner of Middle Road and Queen Street. In 1886, the school was renamed "St. Anthony's Boys' and Girls' School. In November 1893, the co-educational school was separated. In 1906, St. Anthony's Girls' School, run by the Canossian Sisters since 1894, was renamed "St. Anthony's Convent". In 1952, the school building was demolished, and a five-storey building was built. In 1970, the Primary and Secondary sections of St. Anthony's Convent were separated and became St. Anthony's Convent Primary School and St. Anthony's Convent Secondary School. Both schools were relocated to a new premises at Bedok North Avenue 4 in 1995, and renamed "St. Anthony's Canossian Primary School" and "St. Anthony's Canossian Secondary School". The premises was declared open in 1996. In January 2011, the Primary School was relocated to the former site of Fengshan Primary School at 305, Bedok North Road, while the Secondary School to 300, New Upper Changi Road, while the Bedok North Avenue 4 site were refurbished under the PRIME (Programme for Rebuilding and Improving Existing Schools). Past principal of St. Anthony's Canossian Secondary School include Sister Cecily Pavri (1985-Dec 2002); Mrs. Jennifer Loh-Chong Kuang Nee (Jan 2003-2006); and Ms Melanie Ann Martens (2007-to date). Past principal of St. Anthony's Canossian Primary School include Miss Agnes Chew Geok Kim (周玉金, Jan 2002-Dec 2009); and Mrs. Eugenie Tan-Sia Lu-Ming (谢露眀, Dec 2009-to date).
