This is a photograph of ships docked at the West Wharf of Keppel Harbour. On the left foreground is cement silos of the Singapore Cement Manufacturing Company Limited. Minister for Finance, Dr. Goh Keng Swee, officially opened the cement plant located behind the St. James Power Station, on 25 March 1962. Cement is manufactured locally to meet the requirements of building activities in Singapore. Presently the Company is located at 40, Pulau Damar Laut on Jurong Island. Title devised by Library staff.
