Mr. and Mrs. Lancelot M. Pennefather, the legendary sports couple of Singapore, enjoy a toast. Mr. Pennefather, an all-round sportsman, represented Singapore in the Malayan Cup Soccer series in the 1920s and was an umpire for many games organised by the Girls' Sports Club. On the other hand, Mrs. Alice Pennefather was a leading badminton and tennis player who captained the Girls' Sports Club hockey team from 1931 to 1958 and was also a member of the club's netball team.
