This is a close-up of Madam Linda Chen Mong Hock, Managing Director of Shanghai Book Company in the 1970s and 1980s. She was a student at Chung Hwa Girls' School, teacher at Chung Cheng High School, and founder and President of Singapore Women's Federation (SWF) in 1956. SWF was banned when she was detained under the Preservation of Public Security Ordinance (later known as "Internal Security Act") in September 1956. She was released in 1958 but was detained again during Operation Cold Store in 1963. Title devised by Library staff.
