Information About

This is a close-up of the Chinese style entrance gate of Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce at 47, Hill Street. The name of the chamber, in English and Chinese, is installed at the gate. The building, one of the four Chinese style mansions built in the second half of the 19th century and belonged to a Teochew tycoon, Mr. Wee Ah Hood, was leased in 1906 and later purchased by the chamber in 1912. In the early 1960s, the mansion was demolished to make way for the present 10-storey Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry building. Title devised by Library staff.
