This is the front façade of the 3-storey National Blood Centre, home to the Singapore Blood Transfusion Service and the Department of Scientific Services, at 11 Outram Road. Permanent Secretary for Health and Director of Medical Services, Dr. Kwa Soon Bee, laid the foundation stone of the Centre on 25 October 1986. Acting Minister for Health and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Yeo Cheow Tong officiated the opening the Centre on 22 April 1988. Singapore Blood Transfusion Service was renamed as the Centre for Transfusion Medicine on 1 April 2001, when Health Sciences Authority was formed. After restructuring on 1 August 2008, it was renamed as the Blood Services Group. Title devised by Library staff.
