An artist's impression of the proposed Mandarin Singapore (later known as "Meritus Mandarin" and "Mandarin Orchard"), a hotel at 333, Orchard Road. On the rooftop of the 39-storey tower block is the 'M' Revolving Restaurant. The hotel was built by Mr. Lien Ying Chow, Chairman of Overseas Union Bank (1974-1995), and officially declared open by Dr. Goh Keng Swee, Deputy Prime Minister, on 1 August 1973.
