This is a side view of godown or warehouse of Mr. Tan Kim Seng (陈金声, 1805-1864), a prominent Hokkien merchant from Malacca. It faces Singapore River, between Elgin and Coleman Bridges, from across North Boat Quay. On the left is a rough, blank wall where it was once joined to, and formed part of the warehouse of Boustead and Company (established in 1827). Kim Seng's warehouse was built around 1851 and 1855. Title devised by Library staff.
