Information About

This photograph shows the architectural concept, renderings and floor plans of the Department of Electronic & Communications Engineering buildings of the Singapore Polytechnic (SP). On the left are the 5th to the 8th floor plans and on the right are renderings of the buildings viewed from vehicular drop off and from workshops 6 and 7. At the centre is the concept behind the design of the buildings, which marks the fifth phase of the campus expansion. In 1997, after signing agreements with architects, engineers and surveyors involved in the construction of the new buildings, SP announced that it was tearing down two low-rise buildings to make way for 3 multi-storey ones that will be futuristic in design and catering to mainly engineering, computing and telecommunications students. Costing $31 million, the 3 buildings are featured in the renderings. In 2000, the Department of Electronic & Communication Engineering merged with the Department of Electrical Engineering to form the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE).
