This is a view of the old Kreta Ayer People's Theatre at Banda Street in Kreta Ayer area. The foundation stone was laid by Dr. Goh Keng Swee, Minister for Defence and Member of Parliament for Kreta Ayer, on 10 August 1968. It was completed in March 1969 and was declared open by Mr. Jek Yeun Thong, Minister for Labour, on 16 May 1971. It was rebuilt and the new theatre was declared open by Dr. Goh Keng Swee, Deputy Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for Kreta Ayer Constituency, on 29 May 1979. Title devised by Library staff.
