This is a full-length portrait of Professor Tommy Koh Thong Bee, Singapore's Ambassador-at-Large, in batik shirt and reading a book. He graduated with First Class honours from the first batch of graduates from the Faculty of Law of the University of Malaya in Singapore in 1961. He was Singapore's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York (1968-1971, 1974-1984); Associate Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Singapore (1971-1974); Ambassador to the United States (1984-Jun 1990) and Brazil (1984); High Commissioner to Canada (1974); Singapore's Ambassador-at-Large in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (since Jun 1990); founding Chairman of the National Arts Council (1991 to 1996); Director of the Institute of Policy Studies (Jul 1990-Feb 1997; Dec 2000-2004); and founding Executive Director of the Asia-Europe Foundation (1997-Oct 2000).
