This publication consists of five papers which examine the experiences of the Malayan population under Japanese Occupation between early 1942 and August 1945. The papers discusses relations between the Japanese and the Malay/Muslim and Chinese populations as well as how the occupation is remembered in Japan and in Malaya. The papers also offer a fresh look at the occupation and its consequences for the people of Malaya and of Japan.
