This book of "fictionalized fact" of events in Central Thailand is not being written merely as a tear jerker to gain sympathy for a group of the world's disadvantaged persons, rather it aims to illustrate what can be done for them in these days of modern medicine and advancement in reconstructive surgery. It seeks to emphasize how men and women have been reclaimed from the ravages of the malicious disease of leprosy, and draws attention to efforts being made to integrate them into normal society.
