Information About

"Singapore improves beyond our most sanguine calculations and will soon become a point of great and general interest." She writes that she is not worthy of the attention she has attracted in England by news reports of her journeys in Sumatra :"I was influenced only by one motive -affection for my husband -to be parted from him is the only misery my soul shrinks from -to be united to him in life & death the bright hope of my existence".
