This primer, which is part of the National Cost of Quality Programme, provides an introduction to the fundamental cost of quality concepts. The publication also provides an overview of the set up of a cost of quality system and practical examples of such systems. It covers the four essential steps for setting up a measurement system to track the cost of quality. These steps are identification, collection, reporting and analysis, and reduction of quality costs.
