The author who was resident in India for 15 years, provides detailed instructions on navigating from Europe to India and China and from port to port in those regions and other parts of Southeast Asia. There are also accounts of trade transactions and types of goods available from certain places such as top quality bird's nest from Samarang and spices, mercantile habits, manners and customs of the natives and general characteristics of the Hindoos and Malays. A Table of Latitudes and Longitudes of places is included.
