This orchid primer is written by two academics with a wealth of expertise not only in the field of botany, but also in the practical application of horticultural techniques within the industry. particularly from the Singapore viewpoint. By going beyond the mere 'whats' and 'hows' of orchid growing to include the 'whys'. they have produced an orchid publication which is useful and informative. It describes and illustrates in colour the recent hybrids and common native species. Older hybrids that made great contributions to the commercial cut-flower industry have also been added to give a historical perspective. Also included are notes on cultivation and increasing the vase-life of cut-flowers in the hope that readers derive greater enjoyment from orchids.
