The Master Plan for the State of Singapore was prepared by the Singapore Improvement Trust between 1952 to 1955 and approved by the Government in 1958. The Planning Ordinance of 1960 requires the master plan to be reviewed every 5 years. The first review was conducted in 1965, the second review in 1970, and the third review in 1975. This is the fourth review of the updated and approved master plan (1980) and contains alterations made to the master plan, a summary of the main proposals with the description of proposals illustrated on maps. The revised master plan makes provision for development up to 1985.
