This publication traces the evolution of Singapore's foreign policy. Although the period covered is from 1965 to 1975 i.e. the first decade of independence, the author begins by discussing Singapore's limited foreign relations in the years 1959 to 1963, and during the Malaysian years. After independence, Singapore practiced what the author calls a global foreign relations "policy for survival". In the third section, the author discusses Singapore's regional policy, which he considers to be less successful than her global foreign policy.
