The conference brought together participants with backgrounds spanning experimental and theoretical nuclear and particle physics and beyond, reflecting the realization that many computational tools and techniques are common to more than one field. It highlighted many developments of this nature, including the interfacing of high precision nuclear physics codes to high energy simulation codes, the prototype of GEANT 3.20 with its new geometry description, improved QCD models for event generation, the use of object-oriented languages, and the exploitation of parallel hardware configurations.
