This pictorial book comprises of over 1,200 of rare, fascinating and beautiful images which vividly brings Singapore’s history to life. The photographic compilation comprises of the first ever photographic portrait taken in 1843, lyrical landscape photographs produced by the early professional studios, evocative portraits of a cosmopolitan city, the efforts of early amateurs to capture the colonial city, gritty shots by photojournalists who chronicled World War II and the road to independence as well as late 20th century professionals who documented the extraordinary post-independence changes of the island.
