In 2007, the family of the late Kouo Shang-Wei donated a collection of his photographic works to the National Library Board (NLB). The collection of some 7,000 items includes images of people, places and events in Singapore from the 1950s to 1980s. NLB worked with writer, curator and artist Zhuang Wubin on this publication. Zhuang provides context and insight into Kouo’s portfolio and practice while establishing him as a pioneer in the history of photography in Singapore.
