Kala Anandarajah

Kala Anandarajah (b. 1966) is a distinguished lawyer whose areas of expertise include competition, trade, and consumer protection. She has made significant contributions to enhancing training standards in law practices across Singapore. 

She graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from the National University of Singapore in 1989 and subsequently earned a Master’s in Business Administration, specialising in Banking and Finance, from Nanyang Technological University in 1997.

At Rajah & Tann LLP, she holds the positions of Head of Competition & Antitrust and Trade department, as well as Lead Partner in Corporate Governance. She has played pivotal roles, serving as a board member of the Singapore Institute of Legal Education and chairing the committee responsible for introducing the Continuing Professional Development scheme. She is also a member of the Committee for Professional Training of Lawyers, established by the Chief Justice of Singapore to review and recommend improvements to training standards across law practices.

Her expertise in specialised legal areas has earned her seat on various boards, including the Building and Construction Authority and the Institute for Human Resource Personnel. She also serves on the External Review Panel for Safety in the Singapore Armed Forces, the Workplace Safety & Health Council, and the Appeal Board of the Council of Estate Agents.

Anandarajah’s professional accomplishments have been recognised with several awards, such as the Outstanding Achievement Award by Euromoney in 2021, the Winner of Competition in Singapore award by Lexology in 2022, and the Woman Lawyer of the Year in Southeast Asia award by Asian Legal Business in 2023. In recognition of her contributions to public service, she was awarded the Public Service Medal in 2014 and the Public Service Star in 2022 by the government.
